The one to the right went marbled instead, with wide bands of cream running through the green and the fenestrations already cut.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNow look at the bottom leaf. Heart-shaped, whole, no holes yet. That is where this plant began. Everything above it is the record of what came after.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat is the shape of a Monstera's life, and here it is happening on a single stem. The fenestrations arrive with maturity, reliably, the way Monstera does. The variegation follows nothing at all. It cannot be forced or predicted, and it will not repeat. You find out what the next leaf is when it opens.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe aerial roots hanging below are the other half of the story. Thick, long, reaching. This plant is established and moving, not sitting still.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eA note on the white sections\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pale parts of a variegated leaf contain no chlorophyll. That tissue is thinner and more fragile than the green, it holds water less well, and it bruises where green would not. On a plant carrying this much white, a brown edge or a small brown fleck in a cream patch is normal rather than a fault.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt can also appear in transit. A few days in a box, a change in humidity, a knock in handling, and the white areas are the first to show it. A plant can leave here in excellent condition and still arrive with a mark it did not have when it was packed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is cosmetic. A patch that has browned usually stays as it is, and it does not change how the plant grows. New leaves come in fresh.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI pack these carefully and I only send plants I would be happy to receive myself.
